An efficient and reliable plan for the school year ensures that learning goes smoothly and all the educational goals are met. This paper will contain the school’s plans for the fall and winter terms. The schedule has considered the ideas of time management, decision-making, and avoiding procrastination in the book Becoming a good master’s student by Ellis et al. (2020).
Fall Term
Registering for classes: I will register for classes as soon as registration opens. I will check the website to ensure I am registered for the correct classes and that there are no conflicts. I will also make sure to register for the classes I need to graduate. The registration should not exceed the first three days after the open forum so that I am not late once the classes begin.
Attending classes: I will make sure to attend all of my classes. I will take classes by attending the online sessions when there are zoom classes and also avail myself of physical classes where necessary—and doing the readings and assignments. I will get to class on time and be prepared for each class. I will also participate in class and ask questions when I do not understand something. Additionally, I will use technology to support my plan by setting reminders and keeping a calendar of due dates and events.
Completing class readings: I will complete all the readings for each class. I will set aside time each day to read the assigned readings. I will also take notes while I am reading and highlight important information. In order to complete the readings on time, I will ensure that I have a copy of each of the texts in the outline, either a hard copy or the soft copy, and also take a bit of the reading daily. To avoid procrastination, I will set the alarm for reading in the evening and ensure I complete what I have set for the day.
Completing class assignments: I will complete all of my class assignments. I will set aside time each day to work on my assignments. I will also make sure to proofread my work before I submit it. I will carefully note all the assignments and devote my time to their assignments. I plan on thoroughly researching all my assignments to score high marks. On the same note, I will be doing the assignments within the first three days since it is given, or for the assignments with less time, I will ensure that I do the work given within half the time. The strategy will give me enough time to proofread my work and do adequate research.
Preparing for exams/tests: I will prepare for all of my exams and tests. I will set aside time each week to study for upcoming exams. I will also review my notes and assignments to prepare for the exams. I will not be reading at the onset of the exams. I will ensure that I review each day’s work and be at par with what has been taught. With this strategy, I will not have a heavy workload once the exams are near, and I will also be able to score high and avoid panic during exams.
Participating in social activities: I will make sure to participate. I will set aside time each week to participate in social activities. I will also make sure to meet new people and make friends. After my classes, I will not be going straight home; that is when I will sit with other people and attend social events. I will propose to counsel all my plans after class to ensure that I do not procrastinate the gatherings.
Meeting family obligations: I will make sure to meet all my family obligations. I will set aside time each week to spend with my family. I will also make sure to help out around the house and with any chores that need to be done. My family always has a family dinner that everyone must attend on Saturday. Therefore I do not plan on making any other plans for the weekend since I will be spending time with my family.
Meeting work obligations: I will make sure to meet all of my work obligations. I will set aside time each week to work on my job. I will also make sure to do my job to the best of my ability and to meet all of my deadlines. At work, I will ensure I make an appearance every time and am available and attend zoom classes sometimes while I am at work. This will ensure that I can handle both classes and work and not mess up with any of them.
Winter Term
As the winter term approaches, I must start considering which classes I want to take. I must consider what classes I need to graduate, what classes fit my schedule, and what classes I am interested in. I also have to consider that some classes might be more difficult than others and that I might have to spend more time outside of class on those classes. Before starting the registration process, I will have all these figured out. This will happen before the registration portal is open.
The next step in the list will be to register for the classes. I must ensure that I register for the classes I need to graduate first. I also have to ensure that I don’t register for too many classes because that would make my schedule too hectic. After registering for my classes, I have to pay for them. I have to make sure I have enough money to cover the cost of all of my classes.
After registering and paying for my classes, I must start thinking about my schedule. I must ensure that I schedule my classes in a way that works for me. I also have to consider that I might have to spend more time outside of class in some classes than others. This is to ensure that there is a balance in all my classes.
Once I have my schedule figured out, I have to start thinking about other tasks that I need to do to prepare for the winter term. I must ensure I have all the materials I need for my classes. I also must ensure that I am familiar with all my classes’ syllabi. I must ensure that I know the deadlines for all my assignments. I must ensure that I am prepared for the winter term to succeed in all my classes. I have to ensure that I am registered, paid for my classes, have all the materials I need, and am familiar with the syllabi. I also have to ensure that I know the deadlines for all my assignments.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this school year plan will help me achieve academic success by providing a detailed overview of my goals and strategies for each term. I am familiar with the strategies for registering for classes, attending classes, and completing class readings and assignments. I am also familiar with the strategies for preparing for exams/tests, participating in social activities, and meeting family obligations. However, the strategy for meeting work obligations is new to me. This plan will help me stay on track, avoid procrastination, and meet my goals(Ellis et al., 2020). During the school year, I will ensure that I have registered for the classes on time and started the classes as soon as possible. I want to achieve a first class in my degree this year and have a good time management plan. This will be possible through the plans made in the schedule above. I will ensure I use all the means to achieve my plans and remove any plan that might be a barrier to achieving my plans for the year. I will ensure that I attend the classes for both terms and that there is no turning back once I have started with my plans.
